I wanted to take a peek back in time and recover as many images of sketch covers I've done as I could.
Here are some of them.
A lot of these have found homes, some of them I still have and some were commissions.
It saddens me a bit that this trend seems to have died out a bit over the past year, at least for me.
I still have a box full of blanks that I'm not sure what to do with. Do People still collect custom covers?
Sketching on these covers used to be what cons were all about for me. I enjoyed doing them so much. It gave me so much adrenaline and motivation seeing people's reactions when they picked up their commissions. It was also always a challenge because I'd get requests for characters I had never drawn or perhaps never even seen or heard of before. It gave me the chance to experiment and push my limits.
But it seems that the time has come to move on. In my next post I will address more about my decision to cut back on cons for a while, or forever, along with some images of the past. I was going through all my iPhotos yesterday and recovered so many memories. I really miss the way cons used to be. But maybe that chapter is over and it's time to embark in some new adventures.
and thanks for reading.
